In July 2024, Lomond completed one of its most significant acquisitions to date with the purchase of Charters Estate Agents, a leading independent agency operating across Hampshire and Surrey. This marked Lomond’s 59th acquisition and represented a major step in its strategy to expand its footprint across the South of England.
Founded by Rob Mott in Winchester in 2008, Charters has expanded to over 15 branches with a strong reputation across residential sales, lettings, commercial property, Land and New homes. At the time of its acquisition by Lomond, the business managed over 2,800 properties and had recently expanded further by acquiring Fleet-based Honey Lettings.
Within its first year as part of Lomond, Charters launched a brand-new website and introduced Propertycloud, Lomond’s online portal for landlords. The business also merged with Beals, expanding its reach along the South Coast and into new areas, including Fareham and Portsmouth.
The acquisition significantly strengthened Lomond’s presence in Hampshire and expanded its reach into Surrey, creating a solid foundation for further growth. Rob Mott has remained with the business, continuing to drive growth and integration. Reflecting on the move, he said: “The Charters business has made several impressive acquisitions of its own in recent years and our hunger for growth via expansion fits perfectly with Lomond’s vision. This was a natural path to take, and we’re looking forward to driving the business forward even further with Lomond’s support.”
Lomond's CEO Ed Phillips added: “We believe our presence within the area will be significantly elevated, and this deal will allow us to form an impenetrable base of operations from which to continue our expansion.
